about

who

Walter Hargrove and various other design thinkers, biased toward action, will explore and share how we are 'Getting to Design' everything.

why

So that people with growth mindsets can watch and learn from those 'Getting to Design' for their work, lives, and our collective futures. Some of these other designers may be decades or only a few steps ahead of us.

Understanding the approaches for shifting a current "wicked problem" state, to a different solution reality. You know, basic "design".

...and sharing why our natural and/or developing abilities in "design thinking" problem solving can be valuable.

what

Curious, brave and empathetic people sharing stories, mindsets, tools and resources for wicked problem solving.

wicked problem - a complex issue that's difficult to solve because of its ever-changing nature, interconnected elements, and diverse perspectives. These problems often lack clear definitions and solutions, making them challenging to address using traditional problem-solving approaches.

design thinking - a problem-solving approach that prioritizes understanding the needs and perspectives of users to generate innovative solutions. It involves a human-centered process, where designers empathize with users, define the problem, ideate potential solutions, prototype ideas, and test them iteratively. Design thinking encourages creativity, collaboration, and iteration to address complex challenges effectively.

human-centered - focuses on meeting the needs and preferences of people, ensuring that solutions are intuitive and user-focused. While measurable data can be collected about SOCIETIES, understanding the diverse and evolving meanings and values of CULTURES requires the curiosity, bravery, and empathy of designers who can engage and colaborate with various people firsthand.
